What I do at Y1 Capital

I lead digital marketing and marketing operations for the group’s six healthcare brands. The work covers paid media, SEO, conversion, websites, tracking and attribution, CRM data, reporting and the automation that connects them, so that every enquiry can be followed from the first search to the booked appointment.

A large part of the role is deciding where AI and automation earn their keep. Lead follow-up, data hygiene and reporting are repeatable, high-volume work; judgement about what a patient needs to hear is not. I write here about both: what has worked, what hasn’t, and the questions I would ask before spending.

What I think

Marketing in a multi-site business should run like software: instrumented, automated, and measured all the way to the booked appointment, whether that is a consultation or a service call.

How I work

  1. Diagnose before you spend.

Most “marketing problems” are measurement or conversion problems wearing a disguise. I find the constraint first; budget comes after.

  2. One number the board trusts.

If the CRM, the ad platforms and the finance sheet disagree, nobody believes any of them. I would rather have one honest number than five flattering ones.

  3. Automate the repeatable, keep people on judgement.

Lead follow-up, data hygiene and reporting are machine work. Deciding what a patient or customer needs to hear is not.

  4. Build systems that survive the next acquisition.

When a group adds a brand, the marketing should plug in, not start again. That is the test of a system.
